I want to continue the push for a better Willow Glen. Currently our strip is struggling with vacancies and property/business owners who forget a little TLC is often times needed for their store front. Property owners - look for those tenants that ...

Here's What I'm Thinking About...

Subscribe to my blog!

This is my Willow Glen 2.0 page. WG2.0 is a social network I started for my neighborhood for people to talk about whatever kind of neighborhoody things they want and get to know each other better. Most of my blog posts here are on that topic.

Here's what I'm up to right now...

Twitter is where I keep my updates.
Facebook is where I keep in touch with my friends.
LinkedIn is where I keep in touch with colleagues and people it's good to know.
Flickr is where I keep my pictures.
del.icio.us is where I keep my bookmarks.

    Neighbors, I Need Your Help

On October 11, I will be lacing up my shoes for the Royal Victoria Marathon. 26.2 miles of pain and agony. But it's for a good cause. I'm running to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help find a cure for cancers. And I need your help.

I'm running this year for three of my friends--Carlos, Ellen, and Drew. Carlos and Ellen have both fought cancer and won, but my friend Drew is still going through chemo for his Hodgkins Lymphoma. He's tough though and he'll beat it. I wrote a b… Continue

Touring Urban Blight in Willow Glen

Here's a fun read on Metroactive by Gary Singh, the urban blight exploration junkie, as he explores Willow Glen on foot.

Gary begins his tour of abandoned buildings and liquor stores at the old hardware store on Malone. A fun and interesting read about some of the buildings and shops in our little burgh.

    Answering A Question About Neighborsville

I just had a new member of WG2.0 ask me if I could clarify the difference between Neighborsville and WG2.0 so he could make sure that he was on the "right" one. The short answer is that in the near term, there is no "right" one. I figured it would be helpful if I shared my reply with everyone...

Introducing Neighborsville for Willow Glen Beta

Some of you may remember that back in 2008, we launched a preview of a site called Neighborsville. We got a lot of feedback and made some pretty dramatic changes. Today, I'm proud to announce the relaunch of the all new Neighborsville for Willow Glen. Neighborsville will make it even easier to share and discover the things that are most important to us as neighbors.

Today, you can create your profile and add notes to the neighborhood and c… Continue

Willow Glen In Motion TV Show

I just met Kevin Swanson, President of the WGBA and producer of Willow Glen In Motion. It's a fun show they produce bi-weekly about life here in lovely little Willow Glen. Here's an interview Kevin did with Kathy Adkins, former owner of Willow Glen Books. I'd love to get your thoughts on the series and what you think of the show and the interview. Leave your thoughts in the comments and discuss!

Thanks Ryan! I am honored to be neighbor #500!

By the way to comment on the Fresh & Easy construction, the owner of the shopping center is also working on giving the shopping center a face lift; which may be part of the reason there are so many contractors on site. In terms of the other retailers in the center, the construction may actually be helping the businesses as the shopping center was pretty sleepy prior to the commencement of any construcation activity. Albeit the parking may certainly be an issue, but as you mentioned in the past it has been wide open. My family and I typically walk or ride our bikes to the center since it is close to our house and we welcome the activity as we know that it will bring a grocery store that is convenient and fresh to the neighborhood AND hopefully generate more sales for the retailers in the shopping center!

HI Ryan, nice catching up with you the other day. From the stubble I'm guessing the beta testing's taking up most of your waking hours (and maybe even some of the sleep hours too), but I love the idea so I really hope that it catches on fast for you. All the best and let me know if I can ever be of help to you. Johann.

What a great site! Thanks...I think...looks like I have a lot of work to do! I sent my keywords and description back to my webmaster so that we can get those back up again. I think that your idea to work with small businesses to get their web visibility up is a great one!

    Hi Ryan:
I'm not the Robin you met but it is nice to meet you anyway. I'm a member of the Kiwanis Club of Willow Glen - did you happen to attend any of our summer concerts at WG Elementary over the past 6 weeks?

Thank you Ryan. I'm always trying to improve and love taking them. I'm sure I will be adding more in the future. Last week we were at S. Tahoe for several days and then visited several museums in Sacramento and yeah, I took pictures there too.
Thanks again for making a place to show a few of them.
