For a lot of wines I usually like to drink more than one bottle to get a sense if I really like it or not. Sometimes a bottle will taste good at first, but then trying it again it may not be as memorable. One Bottle that passed the test recently is this one below. I picked it up at K&L in Redwood City for $15/btl as a wine club member. It's a great everyday wine but it tastes much better than a $15 bottle.

2005 Bodegas Sierra Salinas Casa Mira
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Mira is 65% Monastrell, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Garnacha Tintorera aged in 60-70% new French oak. Deep crimson-colored, the wine has an excellent bouquet of pain grille, mineral/creosote, black cherry, and blueberry. This leads to a smooth-textured, focused, elegant effort with ample spicy fruit, very good depth and breadth, and a long, pure finish. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 6-8 years."

Hello wine lovers,
My husband and I just spent a week wine tasting our way though mainly Wilamette Valley in Oregon but some surrounding areas as well. Just thought I'd through it out there in case anyone ever plans to be in the neighborhood and would like some tips or just wants some wine recomendations ;-)

We also attended the International Pinot Celebration Passport event which I highly recommend.

Hello fellow wine lovers,
I found out about a great site and thought I would share. http://www.gobyo.com/ tells you what the corkage fee is at popular restaurants in your area. Looks handy for travel as well.

Here is a new update from Bert George at Joseph George...updates on a few previously announced, a couple of new events and a few more on the horizon..

These events are a great opportunity not only to try truly great wines but also to meet the winemakers and learn all about wine. And there are always fun and interesting new people to meet!

May 18th, Monday at Le Papillon 6:00 start Dan Duckhorn of the Duckhorn Wine Company. Bert added space to this one so there are now 7 more spots. $200 per person.

June 2nd, Just signed up Phillipe Melka to do a tasting at the shop here on Meridian. Phillipe is without a doubt one of the most sought after Superstars of winemaking in the Napa Valley. He will be pouring his own wines: CJ and Metisse. They are simply outstanding.

He also makes the wines for Gemstone, Vineyard 29, Hundred Acre, Lail, Seavey among others. Please visit his website: melkawines.com This tasting is from 5-6:30..... only $25 per person.

We can also make reservations for dinner for you.
