A lot of thanks to Gary Parker for the links to useful web-sites. As for me I'm a huge animals lover. It seems to me they are even cleverer than people. Sometimes the can get ill and I worry a lot. Usually I visit a vet but I understand that it is not enough and you'd better know a lot in order to prevent problems. That is why I read a lot. I found a lot of useful books at the pdf books search engine http://pdf.rapid4me.com/ but sometimes I understand that what I need is a dialogue. Because I can't ask a vet so many questions. That is why I'm very thankful for this group and the links to nice websites.

Smarty Jones is my 5 year old Golden Retriever. His motto seems to be "Live To Retrieve; Retrieve to Live." (bred as a field trials dog) Smarty's best trick: he'll sit as long as I ask before leaping on his food - or a Milk Bone, etc. Once after asking him to "stay" before having his dinner I forgot to release. After dark (an hour later) he barked to let me know he was still waiting to eat....

Smarty is one of the stars of my CatDog website. Max, our 13 year old Somali cat - awesome breed who are 1st cousins of the Abyssinian breed - is also well represented - very photogenic guy!

If you are a dog OR cat lover you might enjoy the website. (there's also a people website) It's mostly aimed at national agencies with pet product clients but we do local, too.

Leslie, no idea what is or is not appropriate for here but seems to me stuff like dog sitters/walkers or other pet stuff would be welcomed and appreciated!

I have a 2 year old Chi who is 5 lbs and very well socialized with dogs big and small. We just moved from LA less than a year ago and she misses going to the Brentwood doggie park and all her doggie friends. Anyone interested in doggie play dates or if you need a dog sitter for a few hours, my dog would love the company!

I have two 5 month old puppies (Shih Tzu) and was wondering if you know of any puppy playdates or events for puppies in the area? I need to socialize them more!
