I second May's suggestion to join Ravelry.com. Lots of info about yarn, projects, books, etc.

I have a group called The Yarn Spinner's For Charity through Elks Lodge #522.
We knit and crochet for 7 local hospitals plus the VA. We are always looking for yarn for our projects. Please let me know if you have any leftovers. We are currently knitting Teddy bears to be given during the Holidays and afghans for Veterans Day.

I knit a stuffed pig for my niece this Christmas and have half a bag of leftover teddy bear stuffing, as well as brown stuffed animal eyes. Does anyone have use for such materials or know of a nonprofit that collects arts and crafts materials for donations? I hate throwing stuff away . . . email me if you have any feedback: mayvs@aol.com

I have made some simple purses bases on what I interpreted from your design. Of course I don't have a knitted pattern - but have been playing with the idea. THANKS again for the pattern. That will be my next "attempt".

If any of you are on ravelry.com, I'm "mayvs", please do add me as a friend! If you are not, but are into knitting and crocheting, I highly recommend getting on the waiting list to join. I've found lots of helpful tips and feedback from folks on specific patterns that I wanted to try.

How about a community knitting project? Winter will be here before we know it. Last year I made beanies and scarves and gave them to older veterans, they loved them! There are so many "groups" to knit for, it would be easy to choose a group. I know there are a lot of teens who knit, but really, just need a purpose to knit. If anyone is like me, you have plenty of odds and ends yarn. How 'bout it...anyone interested?
